HOT, but Worth It Sherry Rosser-Carroll, Kay Prince and TJ Corgill competed in the July 17 ACTHA ride in Marble Falls TX on an extremely hot summer day but all came away with their goals met. Kay (riding Paddys O Pep "Hansum") and TJ (on Face It Im Chilly) completed their points for the ACTHA bronze medal. Sherry (aboard TA Rodansk++ "Rocky") completed all of the difficult obstacles, only missing 6th place in the pleasure division by one solitary point.
Back at CHHR, and out of the hot sun, TJ/Chilly (2nd place) and Kay/Hansum (1st place) show off their ribbons from the Open Division of the ride. A fun extra event at the ride was the Crawdad Race. Crawdads are little creatures that look like lobsters, and they always move backwards. Teams of two had a backing race for a jackpot. The first member of team backed down a path, handing off the crawdad to their partner who had to back to the finish line. To make matters even more fun, all involved decided to do it bareback! TJ and Sherry came in second, and got lots of laughs because they wore latex gloves to avoid touching the crawdad. However, the joke was on them because the crawdad was plastic!
